Courage

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV

Jesus finds himself giving Joshua words of encouragement because it was his turn now to lead the people; if I had found myself in that position, I cannot imagine what I would’ve done. This goes to show, that even in the most challenging, or fatiguing moments, God is standing by us.

Taking courage means letting go, and letting God have his way; “Let go and let God”. How hard is that! I’ve caught myself many times being jammed or frozen up by a situation but I come to my senses and remember who is with me and that God has empowered me to do whatever is placed in my hands.

As with Joshua, Jesus reminds us today once again to execute what he has already given us. “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline”. 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV. Tell yourself this every day, any moment you find yourself saying “I can’t do it, that’s for smart people, there are people that are more qualified”. The Lord has chosen YOU to be the light, to make a difference. God’s Spirit makes us succeed, makes us conquer. The word says that the Spirit God gave us makes us have self-discipline; the only person who can limit yourself is you.

As normal human beings, many times we need to hear these words. Whenever you’re in need of courage; repeat what the Lord has already established in his word.

Blessings!
