To Help Thy Neighbor

This weeks’ study based on the book of Mark chapter 2. We find ourselves in Capernaum where suddenly there is a very big crowd surrounding the area as Jesus Christ found himself there. Everyone wanted to be around Him as he preached the word and saw him making miracles as well, surely, whomever encountered Jesus was never the same.

“A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.”
Mark‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭‬‬

There are these 4 men seen carrying their paralyzed friend on a mat to reach salvation…

“Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭‬‬

What amazes me here is these men knew the importance of taking their friend to salvation. They made it their mission to reach Jesus Christ. I took this as an example for myself, I should not be ashamed to lead my friends to Christ. It can cause an everlasting change in their life!

At that point, there is no obstacle. Just imagine, how hard it must’ve been to take up a paralyze man onto a rooftop. The friend unable to move an inch, maybe it was hard for the friend to find himself in such a vulnerable moment. But at this point there’s no stopping.

How great is our God! Not only did He bring healing to this man’s body, his sins were firstly forgiven.

Today, this event is reminding us to help out our neighbors (friends, family members, colleagues) to reach salvation. Let no obstacle stop us, may we help others see the that greatest sickness in someone’s life is sin. May our actions teach others about salvation. May we not be ashamed of the gospel, overall we have been empowered to shine. We get backing, when we speak we are not in this alone. With us walks the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit of God!

Blessings!
