By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. – Ecclesiastes 10:18
There came a time of realization that when hearing “Christ our foundation, our cornerstone, our rock” made total and complete sense. It is important for the bad days, important for the bad storms, important for the inconveniences, for the unexpected times — how is our foundation?
The word of God says, “by much slothfulness (laziness), the building decays.” When we are lazy in our walk, when we aren’t truly submitting, when we’re doing the bare minimum, our house has nothing firm to stand on. In this context, our house can be our spiritual life; although we may have believing partners, we ourselves must build correctly.
Through laziness, the roof caves in, and the house floods. Through laziness, what we are trying to build can get soggy. In our times, it is so easy to get distracted, to lose sight of where we’re going. But, thank God for His guidance and His Spirit. Our foundation can guarantee victory, can guarantee stability. Having a firm foundation gives us clarity; everything else around us could be flooding, could be drowning. But we are so cemented fear can’t even touch us.
Anything we build can be done through Christ; it is not only a matter of being super spiritual or a superhuman, but of using the tools left for us here on earth, using the blueprint of heaven here on earth.
I pray the Lord can help any one of us struggling in our foundation, that we can run to Him in fasting and prayer. Those who don’t know where to begin, may they receive guidance this week. May they receive what they need from where they least expect it. Above all, may we keep His word: The Lord is our all in all! as His word says “When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person.” Ecclesiastes 12:13. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings!
