This Is Real

Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. 2 Corinthians 5:17

A message the Lord speaks to us on a daily basis is that we are His children. Every waking moment, in every bite of food, in every safe car ride, in everyday health, in the ability to do day-to-day things, we are reminded of His love for us as His children.

There are times that even in our daily reminders our actions, and mostly our way of thinking of ourselves and others, bring us a setback. The frustration in the mind can make someone forget about His love and kindness—we are human beings, right? But through this verse today, we are reminded we are not just any kind of human being; we are a new creature.

Knowledge is power, and if the enemy can misconstrue our way of thought, that person can make us FORGET—not alter, FORGET—who we are in Christ. One thing he (the enemy) cannot take away is who I am. The enemy is not our creator; he is not our redeemer. He quite literally has no power over us, but if he can make us forget who we are, we do not know where we stand.

Living in this frustration can make us feel in a constant state of bringing to our minds past things: past mistakes, past offenses, past disrespect. It sparks something in us that can make us so frustrated. We are alive in the present but thinking about our past. But we have the power! The power to overcome our past—the trauma does not need to replay in our minds every day.

When we pray we draw nearer to the Lord, and our spiritual eyes are opened. The Word of God says “The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.” 2 Corinthians 10:4 In order for us to conquer in the Spirit, we must be strong in the spirit. How does that happen? Through prayer and fasting. When we fast, we are obligating our bodies, our flesh to the things of the Spirit. When we are strong spiritually in God, we have strong minds; it becomes normal to have healthy thoughts, to not think negatively of others, to not think negatively of yourself, and to make sound decisions. Someone who was used to living in chaos got a taste of Christ and learned what it means to be at peace in our minds, our bodies, and at home. Our culture now becomes the Kingdom of God, and the love and peace of God reigns over us and our household.

I pray this post blesses someone today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With love and grace,
