Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Shareable Quote
“Forward is the only direction for those who follow Christ.”
“The enemy wants you looking back, but God is calling you ahead.”
To move means to leave the place we occupy and step into another. Spiritually, this reflects our walk with God—always advancing, always pressing toward what He has placed before us.
Jesus warned in Matthew 24:12–13:
“Because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.”
Movement is inevitable. The real question is: Which direction are we moving?
Some are advancing down the broad path.
Some are drifting backward, setting their eyes again on the things of this world.
But we are called to fix our gaze on the Author and Finisher of our faith, eyes set on the eternal goal ahead.

When the Heart Looks Backward
In Numbers 14:1–10, the people of Israel stood at a defining moment. Though God had brought them out of slavery with a mighty hand and sustained them through the desert, their minds remained chained to Egypt.
Whenever things grew difficult, their thoughts ran backward:
• In Egypt we had food.
• In Egypt we had water.
• Maybe we should go back to Egypt.
They saw giants.
They felt fear.
And their instinct was to retreat to the familiar—even if it was bondage.
This is often how the enemy works.
He wants us looking everywhere except at Christ.
But Joshua and Caleb stood firm and declared:
“If the Lord delights in us, He will bring us into this land… With us is the Lord; do not fear them.”
Even when the people rejected their words, God revealed His glory and defended His faithful ones.

Fight, Flee, or Follow God?
When we face fear, our bodies respond with what science calls the fight-or-flight response—a surge of adrenaline preparing us either to confront danger or run from it.
Spiritually, we face the same choice:
• Will we run back to what God freed us from?
• Or will we trust Him and step forward?
We will face giants.
We will experience trials.
But the God who has carried us this far will not abandon us now.

God Is Calling Us Forward
Israel longed for Egypt not because it was good, but because it was known.
And that is where many people get stuck—between the comfort of the past and the challenge of stepping into God’s promise.
But the Lord is calling us forward:
• Into growth
• Into victory
• Into deeper faith
• Into the promises He has spoken
He desires to do something new, but we cannot receive it if our eyes remain fixed behind us.
Christ is ahead of us.
The promise is ahead of us.
Our future in Him is ahead of us.
So let us move—pressing on, persevering, and keeping our eyes fixed on the One who leads us to the finish.

Closing Prayer
Lord, help me to keep my eyes fixed on You.
When fear rises, steady my heart.
When I am tempted to look back, remind me of the freedom You have given me.
Give me the courage of Joshua and Caleb—to trust Your promises, to believe Your Word, and to move forward in faith.
Lead me into everything You have prepared for me.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
