Jeremiah 33:6: “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.”
Good morning, hope you are blessed in the name of Jesus. Bringing ourselves to this morning’s Bible verse in the book of Jeremiah, two key elements stand out here: “I will bring health and healing to it…” Honestly, I’ve never thought of these two separate words, having two separate meanings, until I came across this Bible verse.
This Monday morning, we are believing for both health and healing!
When we look at the word health, we’re talking about our entire well-being. Well-being of the body, mind, spirit… all around well. When thinking about health, these attributes are joy, strength, sound mind, peace, understanding, grace, forgiveness, generosity, and many more. These are a couple that come to mind. But before we reach health, there is HEALING.
Healing, this is the hard part. This is where the truth is uncovering the lies, where the damage or injury begins to no longer be damaged or injured. When I think of healing, I think of a wound. The wound goes through different phases to reach health.
First, it stops bleeding. In order for a wound to close, it must first stop bleeding.
The second stage is inflammation (painful). In this stage, it’s a sign to the body for when the next stage can begin, where anything foreign that does not belong to the body is removed.
In the 3rd stage, we see new tissue building (scab). This is where the wound begins to close. Although it may never look the same, it is no longer injured, hurt, or damaged.
And the final and 4th stage is remodeling, the wound has officially now become a scar. All healed, in a new state, no more pain, only the past.
All this to say, Psalm 30:5: “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”
Before health, there is a process we must go through. Before being healed, we must endure phases, all things possible through Jesus Christ. The healing process is different when there’s hope, when there’s a change in our thought process. Once old things pass and have been renewed, we learn to depend on our only hope, who IS faithful and true.
As we know, Ephesians 6:12: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
When we find ourselves or someone else with a mental struggle, an anger struggle, struggling to accept how things flow in life, someone who’s in a constant state of depression or mental fatigue, these are all signs of someone who needs healing. Those things which we do not see but are deep struggles… we can fight if we are equipped spiritually.
But we are praising God in advance on this Monday morning for our healing and our health. When I have the Lord on my side, it is a sure thing that healing and health will come to me. I may need to endure for a moment, but this too shall pass. I’m here to say: there is health and healing for His people!
It is only a lie from the devil that we have to live in a negative cycle. That is simply not what the Lord has for us. It is possible, in this world of chaos, to live a healthy life with Christ, to raise our children in healthy households. It’s not a dream. When we are in Christ, things are better because of who we have inside of us. The things that once hurt no longer have power over who we are, no power over our minds, no power over our emotions.
We pray this morning for anyone struggling, anyone who thinks that this mud is their ending. We break, in the name of Jesus, all negative cycles that keep His children from seeing the light. Our obedience to the Lord will bring us health and healing.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Blessings!
