Prayer as Worship (Worship Begins at Home)

🤍 Prepare Your Heart

Before reading, play this worship song and invite God’s presence into your home.

“May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.” Psalm 141:2

When we think of worship, we typically incline to music only. Worship consists of the act of honoring, loving, and giving reverence to God. This can be through our hearts, our words, our actions, and our lifestyle. Worship is not only one “thing”; worship is not only something we do; it is not just an emotion. Worship is a part of who we are, a part of our identity. When we truly understand who the Lord is in our lives, we worship Him wherever we go. Prayer as worship; let our prayer be set before Him like incense…

When we pray, we invite the presence of God into our homes; our hearts are a dwelling place for His Spirit, and so are our homes! The word says “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18. The Lord is near to our call, so I will call Him at home too. My desire is always to seek Him every day, not only when I go to church. I can’t be a true worshipper if the Lord only hears from me on Sundays and Wednesdays. When we pray, our hearts are aligned with God. Once we start spending more time in His presence, we become more like Him.

Prayer as worship with my family… It is much easier to find my own time to pray and draw near to God, but what about as a family? This is where we become intentional. This is where we show our children THIS is what we do, this is part of our worship as a family. I am a firm believer that when we pray together, we have spiritual unity, just as when we congregate and pray and worship together. There is spiritual unity, where we demonstrate that the Lord reigns over us. So when we pray, it is like perfume before the Lord; it is like an aroma. We want to please the Lord with all our lives, with everything we are.

Lord, I pray we continue to surrender everything we are and become all You have called us to be. Help us to pray always, every day, and have a true and genuine worship before You. We acknowledge Your power in our lives. If ever we can shout, if ever we can jump, if ever we can sing, if ever we can rejoice, it is for You and because of You. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Blessings!
