Our Help Comes From the Lord

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” — Psalm 121:1–2

As we begin this week, it is important to remember where our help truly comes from. The world around us often feels uncertain and chaotic. News headlines, global conflicts, economic concerns, and natural disasters can cause many people to live in fear. Some are even preparing by building shelters and bunkers, hoping to find safety in human solutions.

Yet Scripture reminds us of a powerful truth: where sin increases, God’s grace abounds even more (Romans 5:20). Because of this, we should not be discouraged. Even in the midst of darkness, God’s grace continues to work powerfully in the world.

As believers, we are called to respond not with fear, but with faith.

God’s Word instructs us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer keeps our hearts aligned with God and reminds us that He is still in control. We are also instructed to pray for those in positions of authority (1 Timothy 2:1–2), asking God to guide them with wisdom and righteousness.

This is also a time for personal reflection. Each believer must examine their relationship with Christ. Our faith cannot be casual or lukewarm. In Revelation 3:16, we are warned about the danger of being lukewarm in our commitment to God. The days we are living in call for believers who are passionate about their faith and fully devoted to Jesus.

Let this week be a reminder to draw closer to God. Spend time in His Word. Seek Him in prayer. Allow the Holy Spirit to strengthen your faith and guide your actions.

God desires to use His people as instruments of hope and truth in a world that desperately needs Him. When we remain faithful, surrendered, and obedient, we become useful tools in His hands.

No matter what happens around us, we can stand firm in this truth:

Our help comes from the Lord.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being our refuge and our help in every season. When the world feels uncertain, remind us to fix our eyes on You. Help us to remain faithful in prayer and committed to Your Word. Strengthen our relationship with You so that we may not grow lukewarm but instead burn with passion for Your truth. Use us as instruments of Your peace and light in a dark world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
