Drawn Into Covenant

‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself. Exodus 19:4

As I continue studying the book of Exodus, this verse completely called me out and grabbed my attention. We can see the order in which Israel was called; while God is calling them into obedience, He reminded them of one thing: He was the One who brought them to Himself.

It clearly depicts the fact that they did not rescue themselves from Egypt; they most definitely did not find their own way through the wilderness. God says “how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.”

🤎 The Heart of Covenant 🤎

We can see here that to be in covenant with God, it does not merit on our own strength. Very clearly it is a relationship that begins with HIS GRACE! He attracts us to Himself first; He rescues, He calls, He brings us near, and then He invites us to walk with Him, in that order.

If we continue reading in this chapter, it says “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant…” Here’s a key point: God did not call His people only to experience freedom but also called them to walk in a relationship with Him.

In that same way, today the Lord has drawn us to Him. Our response is to live, breathe, and walk in the covenant that He has made with us. Not from time to time or when we feel like it, but every single God-given day and faithfully.

With this quick read, ask yourselves: How has God drawn you to Himself in your life?

Blessings!
