Back To School

It’s about that time of the year. When summer day wind down, when the no schedules end and kids return to school.

Stress level raise and tiredness comes over us just by the thought of everything that it entails. Early morning to late night homework and everything in between. Kids get excited to go back. I know my nieces and nephews are itching to go back. But it entails a lot.

As a stay-at-home mom of three kids under 5 that are also homeschooled and runs a business, it can be overwhelming sometimes. A lot of time we get lost in the schedules. Making sure our kids are being well educated, keeping up with all the activities, doctor appointments, cooking, cleaning, serving in our church, in our community, and being the virtuous wife.

It is a lot, but we do it with the strength given by God and his Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 40: 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. https://www.biblestudytools.com/isaiah/40-31.html

The day has 24 hours and when the list sometimes does not get completed it can feel as though we fail a bit.  I love this hymn and I have found myself humming it these past weeks

“I’m only human, I’m just a woman

Help me believe in what I could be

And all that I am

Show me the stairway, I have to climb

Lord for my sake, teach me to take

One day at a time

One day at a time sweet Jesus

That’s all I’m asking of You

Just give me the strength

To do every day what I have to do

Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus

And tomorrow may never be mine

Lord help me today, show me the way

One day at a time”

Yes, the school year has begun. Your children may leave the house to go to school or they might be homeschooled. Your schedule may already be full for next month. It May seem that we can’t keep up with everything, but just take it one day at a time and rest in your loving father.

Psalms 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

Jesus is your foundation and fountain of strength. Spent time with him, love on your kids, love on your spouse.

So as we get back into our routines, be in courage and strength, and in the Lord.

These are some tips that help me.

  1. Start tomorrow today, that means pack bags, lunch. If today is soccer after school get all that equipment together.

I  homeschool, so I read over my parent manual and make sure I have every item I will be needing. I leave the classroom ready to start the next day.

    2.    Get up early, and pray with your spouse. Have that devotional time. It is so important and can’t be skipped

    3.    If you have some time for exercise before the craziness of the day start, take that time. Best to get it done early, sometimes we put it off until later and we never get back to it.

    4.    Pray with your kids and read the Word before they leave the house, pray with them and read the Word if they are homeschooled.

    5.    Be intentional about connecting at the end of the day. Eating together, talking about the things that were done.

    6.    Have family time, movie night, game big.

    7.    Family service, make your kids sing a song and hear a verse. Preach a small message (according to their age) this helps them be established in their faith. Start to prepare them for singing their first solo, or preaching their first message in the children’s service/youth service.

      8. Find a babysitter and make time for that date night.

We cannot let the schedules steal our peace, our joys. We fix our eyes on Jesus

Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith.

In the midst of everything he has for us, we are kept by him for him. So let’s praise him at all times, bring our prays and our worries to him

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
